Description: Vision & Mission The Dogwood Arts Festival: The ultimate experience combing the arts and natural beauty * To help support arts education in our schools * To promote the visual and performing arts * To preserve and enhance the natural beauty of our region DOGWOOD ARTS FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES A CALL TO ARTISTS The Dogwood Arts Festival announces a call to artists for its 50th Anniversary Festival. Prospectus and applications are available for download below , or artists may request one be mailed by calling the Dogwood Arts offices at 865-637-4561. The Regional Fine Arts Exhibit allows progressive, emerging and professional regional artists to exhibit their work in a variety of genres. The exhibit will run from April 2-30, 2010 in the historic gallery space at 128 S. Gay Street. A total of $4,000 in awards will be presented. Deadline for entry is February 22, 2010. The Art in Public Places Knoxville Exhibition is a world-class exhibition of large-scale outdoor sculptures that enliven downtown Knoxville. The exhibition will run from April 2-October 31, 2010. A total of $5,000 in awards will be presented. Deadline for entry is November 30, 2009. The Market Square Art Fair turns downtown Knoxville into a lively street fair with arts and crafts booths, entertainment, and festive food. This year's art fair will be April 9 - 11. Open to all artists within the accepted medium categories. Deadline for entry is December 31, 2009. The Chalk Walk transforms downtown Knoxville's sidewalks into a canvas for professional and student artists during the street painting festival April 17 & 18, 2010. A total of $2,450 in awards will be presented. Deadline for entry is December 15, 2009. The Student Art Show displays art from local students. Open to all student artists in grades K-12 in Knox and surrounding counties. Teachers must nominate students and entries are limited to two per teacher. The exhibition will be on display April 2 - 30, 2010 at the Emporium Center for Arts and Culture located at 100 S. Gay Street. Deadline for entry is February 25, 2010. The Dogwood Art DeTour: Studio Art Trails opens up local artist's working studios to the public. The Dogwood Art DeTour will take place April 24 & April 25. Studios will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Deadline for entry is November 15, 2009. The Wearable Art Fashion Show is a great way for artists to showcase wearable art of all styles and genres. The art will be shown in a fashion show and available for sale at the Diva Luncheon on April 20, 2010 at The Foundry. Deadline for entry is February 26, 2010. Art Source 2010, an exhibition of Knox County Art Educators, showcases their talent as professional artists. Each year, this exhibition has impacted students and increased awareness of the importance of art education in Knox County. The exhibition will be on display May 7-29, 2010 at the UT Gallery located at 106 S. Gay Street. A total of $1,500 in awards will be presented. Deadline for entry is May 2, 2010. The Dogwood Arts Festival is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help support arts education in our schools, promote the visual and performing arts and to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of our region. In April, the Festival will showcase the talented performing and visual artists, our fine art institutions and the natural beauty of our region.
