Description:

From Smoky Mountain Quilters Quilt Show Website:

The Smoky Mountain Quilters 2015 Quilt Show will take place at Maryville College. Located in Maryville, Tennessee, the campus of Maryville College is nestled in the foothills between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Tennessee's third largest city. Just 15 miles from downtown Knoxville and 5 miles from McGhee Tyson Airport, the campus is near the convergence of Interstates 40, 75 and 81 making it within a day's drive of two-thirds of our nations population.

The area is rich in quilting tradition and embraces the styles and techniques of prior generations as well as the innovative approaches of contemporary art quilters. Smoky Mountain Quilters of Tennessee serves almost 120 members and is only one of several area quilt guilds, many of which produce their own annual or biennial quilt shows.

Since 1980, our goals have been to promote and showcase both the artistic and technical abilities of quilt makers from all over our country and beyond its shores. We also encourage emerging quilters no matter what age they choose to thread their first needles whether hand held or in a machine. Our entries are not juried, however we depend on the services of highly trained and certified professional judges to evaluate the quilts and award the efforts of our entrants.

Our ample exhibit space is completely climate controlled with good lighting. Viewers will be able to examine the quilts and shop with a variety of vendors in the immediate vicinity. They will also enjoy shopping for small quilts created by our members. Merikay Waldvogel, Quilter's Hall of Fame inductee in 2009, will present bed turnings at scheduled intervals during the show.
