Description:

From DeKalb County Fair Website:

Howdy Folks,

Alexandria is home to the DeKalb County Fair, known affectionately to locals as "The Grandpa Fair of the South". One of the oldest running fairs in the United States, the fair has been offering old-fashioned fun and good-natured competition since 1856.

Although the fair has progressed with the technology age promoting online registration and news links...at the end of the day, there's always a blue ribbon waiting for the best tomatoes, finest cow, and the prettiest beauty queen.

"Going to the local fair has been a favorite must do for the young and young at heart for a very long time. Its good, clean, family-fun at its finest. Bringing your children to experience all of the fun things the fair brings to town, gives them the same feeling that you had as a kid, said Angie Meadows, Lions Pavilion coordinator. Its a special, highly anticipated week of summer where friends and neighbors come to have a great time.

This years fair will offer a new event at the Lions Pavilion called Almost Anything Goes Game Show, said Angie Meadows pavilion coordinator. Youll do the kind of laughing that causes your stomach to hurt youll laugh THAT hard!

This year's pageants sponsored by DTC Communications. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night winners will receive a $50 cash prize from DTC!

So whether you're out with your friends, on a date with your sweetheart, or having a fun night out with your family...the DeKalb County Fair welcomes you back each and every year as you build your own traditions along with us. We'll see you every summer under carnival lights and the smell of popcorn, cotton candy and excitement.
