Description:

From 24th Annual Rajun Cajun Crawfish Festival Website:

Kick off spring with the 24th Annual Rajun Cajun Crawfish Festival on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi.

The 24th Annual Memphis Toyota Dealers Rajun Cajun Crawfish Festival benefiting Porter-Leath will be held on Sunday, April 17 from 11 a.m. through 6 p.m. at Wagner Place and Riverside Drive, between Union Avenue and Beale Street. The festival supports Porter-Leath's free programs and services that empower over 12,000 local at-risk children and their families to achieve a healthy, optimal and independent lifestyle each year.

Rajun Cajun is the largest one-day crawfish festival in the Mid-South, with over 16,000 pounds of fresh Louisiana crawfish hauled direct from the bayou to Memphis for the occasion. The free admission festival will feature live Cajun and Zydeco music from Lafayette's Bayou Boyson the Southland Park Gaming and Racing Main Stage, the ever-energetic swamp soul band Marcella + Her Lovers on the C Spire Beale Street Stage, and Memphis' tightest jam band, Freeworld, on the Monogram Foods Riverside Stage. As always, the Beale Street Stage will also be home to the live crawfish bob, crawfish eating contest, and crawfish races.

The event also features food and drinks, contests, prizes and family fun for festival-goers of all ages. For those not partial to the official state crustacean of Louisiana, there will be plenty of food vendors offering everything from BBQ, to hot wings, to traditional carnival fare.
