Giving and receiving a handcrafted piece of work is most exciting, it is like starting a heirloom in your family. Here in Gatlinburg we've been known for our crafts and art for over 200 years. We brag of our largest group of independent artists and craftsmen in the nation.
Showcasing Our Heritage
Arts and crafts have long held a deep association with the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Nowhere else will you find a richer heritage of fine craftsmanship than in The Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community. This area offers the best in a wide range of shops including pottery, woodcarving, candle making, quilting, weaving, broom making, art galleries, and many other fine art forms.
Some of our artist and crafters are second, third and even fourth generation artisans carrying on the
tradition of their heritage while making a living the way pioneers did back in the 1760s and '70s.
Annual Special Event Craft Shows
Our craft shows are held in the Gatlinburg Convention Center, which is conveniently located in downtown Gatlinburg. As always, the admission is free! You can meet and visit with members of the Arts and Crafts Community as they produce one-of-a-kind works of art available for purchase. Our shows are just a preview of what is in store for you when you visit the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community located just 3 miles from downtown. Step back in time as you witness over 100 artist and crafters producing their wares by hand in this historic area.
