Bell Buckle Chamber of Commerce RC-Moon Pie Festival is Saturday, June 15, 2019.

The Bell Buckle Chamber of Commerce's annual RC-Moon Pie Festival is held annually on the third Saturday in June. This wacky, fun for the whole family event celebrates the South's original fast food an ice cold RC Cola and a fresh MoonPie. Smiling visitors from all over the world (we can prove it cause there's a "who travelled the furtherest contest!) stream into the downtown area where they find plenty of music, cloggers, weird and knee slapping fun contests, MoonPie games, and a colorful parade just to name a few of the many things that occur throughout the day. This grand old-fashioned celebration invites snack lovers from all over the world to enjoy a jam packed day of fun for the whole family.

The historic town has been known for antiques, arts/crafts, and great food for many years. But in 1994, the Bell Buckle Chamber of Commerce began exploring ideas to increase foot traffic during the summer months. The idea for the Festival first began as a way to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Moon Pie and to bring new visitors to Bell Buckle (population 405). Bell Buckle's Rodney Simmons called John Campbell of Chattanooga Bakery to see if the Bell Buckle Chamber of Commerce could throw Moon Pie a Birthday Party. Little could anyone have expected what a huge event this would become! The Festival has been featured on the Travel Channel, Tennessee Crossroads, Southern Living, Food Network Magazine, USA Today, and many others.

The day begins with the RC-MoonPie 10 Mile Run with a limit of the first 1,000 runners to register taking part in the certified race on the scenic but challenging course. All pre-registered runners are guaranteed a race shirt, and at the completion of the race all runners are invited to enjoy a complimentary breakfast that has been said to be one of the best around with biscuits and the fixings, fruit, and of course, RC's and MoonPies! After the runners are cheered in, the festivities begin. The stage is always abuzz with music, laughter, and entertainment that defies logic. The parade is a perennial crowd favorite culminating in the crowing of the King and Queen of the Festival. The coronation is followed by games for all ages and the grand finale the cutting of the World's Largest MoonPie free dessert for all!
